An artist who uses color in a special way/ a photographer who hand tints photographs.

I am a photographer and a colorist. The application of color to the surface of my photographs is what makes my work special .

I received my first camera at the age of nine. I learned how to print and process film when I was in High School. I received a degree in Journalism and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an emphasis in Photo-Journalism. I then went back to the University to further study photography in the Art Department where I earned a BS in Art

The Process

All of my work starts out in Black and White. I take all my own photographs using black & white film. I process this film and create prints in my dark-room.

Finally , I add color to the surface of these images with Berol Prismacolor pencils, transforming the photographs into very personal images.

I use bold color to define areas in my photographs, which create more abstract images. Other times I will stay true to the photographic image and use soft colors and simple outlines to create more pastel, realistic images.

The colors I choose come from my emotions, memories and current surroundings.

I enjoy photographing architectural details as well as natural images. I am Wisconsin based but enjoy traveling the world to capture my images.
